Women's Match Report - Round 2

Our Women's Side played their second T20 match of the season against a well drilled Glenelg outfit on Sunday, 17th October at Bice Oval. Our girls, most of which were new to the sport & club, put up a gallant effort against a top quality opposition.

Glenelg batted first, and the opening pair put on 191 for the first wicket with Nicole Adams plundering an unbeaten 115. The girls struck late to get 2 wickets through Hannah Clarke & Indiana Flynn in the dying stages. Glenelg finished up 2-202 from their 20 overs. Holly Ifould bowled extremely well for her 4 overs, 0-25. New recruit Kirby Godden also kept very well behind the stumps after taking the gloves from Flynn at the midway point.

In reply, Glenelg's experience with the ball and in the field certainly shone through with our girls struggling to build partnerships. With only 10 players, and losing one to injury, we only had the 9 players available to bat. Glenelg were too strong and our girls finished all out for 4.

We regroup & head to West Torrens next Sunday morning for another chance at it. If anyone wishes to play cricket, we would greatly appreciate your presence around our great club.

Women’s Season Kicks Off

Women’s Season Kicks Off

Our Women's XI played their first game of the season on Sunday morning in the SACA 2nd Grade Women’s T20 competition. The Stingrays, featuring numerous debutants, unfortunately came up short against a full-strength Adelaide outfit at Glandore Oval, featuring many players with first grade experience. However, the team can take numerous positives into this week's game against Glenelg at home.

Southern District Cricket Club is still looking for Women's players and volunteers for the upcoming season.

Players of all ages and skill levels are welcome. Previous players for Southern District include current Australian player Tahlia McGrath who started at the club as a junior cricketer.

Volunteer wise it is a great opportunity to be involved in wonderful sporting club that represents the Southern area.

If you are interested please contact us either via social media, or Harvey Jolly via email at
