Fantastic session this morning at the Female Stingrays Academy

A group of girls 13-16 yo from areas ranging from Fulham to Victor Harbor spent 2 hours going through:

  • Catching Drills
  • Throwing Technique work
  • Decision Making Drill
  • Bowling technique analysis
  • Discussions about wrist position when bowling
  • Batting Drills on bat soeed, head position, foot position
  • Machine Gun Batting Drill
  • Importance of hitting the ball under your eyes
  • Finished with discussions about batting objectives, waiting for the ball, trigger movements

As a Coaching Philosophy I continually emphasise managing our Emotional Brain (Amygdala) and allowing our Decision Making Brain (Frontal Cortex) to be dominant. Combined with your body energy and force moving in the right direction in everything we do.

Next 2 sessions are down at Victor Harbor Recreation Centre to attract more Fleurieu based players, see post further down for days and times.

Women’s Season Kicks Off

Women’s Season Kicks Off

Our Women's XI played their first game of the season on Sunday morning in the SACA 2nd Grade Women’s T20 competition. The Stingrays, featuring numerous debutants, unfortunately came up short against a full-strength Adelaide outfit at Glandore Oval, featuring many players with first grade experience. However, the team can take numerous positives into this week's game against Glenelg at home.

Southern District Cricket Club is still looking for Women's players and volunteers for the upcoming season.

Players of all ages and skill levels are welcome. Previous players for Southern District include current Australian player Tahlia McGrath who started at the club as a junior cricketer.

Volunteer wise it is a great opportunity to be involved in wonderful sporting club that represents the Southern area.

If you are interested please contact us either via social media, or Harvey Jolly via email at jollyfam@tpg.com.au
